A Birthday Celebration

Oh boy.... I'm exhausted!  Yesterday was filled with laughter, excitement, family, friends, playgroup at the church, FaceTime with east coast grandparents, presents, wrapping paper, balloons, new toys, new clothes, a cake that resembled the Leaning Tower of Pisa... so much fun!

The day started off with the boys waking up to a room full of balloons.  The hubs and I woke up to high pitched screams of "LOOOOONNNNSS!!! LOOOOOONNNSS!!!!"  It was great!

We spent about an hour the night before blowing up the balloons with a helium tank I picked up from Party City and snuck in around midnight to set them up around the cribs.  Unfortunately, by the time the twins woke up some of the balloons had already deflated to the floor (FAIL!).

After playgroup it was time to open up some presents and play!

While the twins took their afternoon nap I proceed to spend the next 2 and a 1/2 hours baking a four tiered chocolate cake from scratch.  EPIC FAIL!!!!  First and foremost, the thing was leaning to the right so far that it almost fell off the cake stand.  Even our Contractor said the structural integrity would not pass inspection.  And to top it off (no pun), I ran out of frosting just as Tyler was waking up.  At that point, I threw some candles on top and called it a day.

Luckily, the boys didn't seem to judge my incompetent baking skills.  Despite the lean, it was actually quite tasty.

I love you forever and forever, kiddos!
