Preppy Bow Tie Birthday Party

I've been in full party planning mode preparing for an event this weekend for the past  few weeks.  It's been a few months since I've planned a party other hosting holiday gatherings and the occasional dinner party.  God I love it - I get all giddy (and sometimes obsessive) with all the little charming details that personalize an event.  Then it occurred to me that I STILL have not shared any of the twins' birthday parties on the blog!  So without further adieu - the Preppy Bow Tie Birthday Party that I planned when the twins turned a year old (it was also a combo Baptism party…. yeah we were a little distracted during the first year of their life).

Party Details

The inspiration for this party all started with two little bow ties that the boys wore on their big day. From there, the preppy ideas began to flow.  To illustrate the preppy style the color pallet for this party was classic navy & white paired with a bright and vibrant lime green.  Plaids, polka dots and argyles patterns were also incorporated into the preppy party decor.

The invitation leveraged the colors from Ben's bow tie and the pattern from Tyler's bow tie.

Just about all the party decorations were DIY projects using navy and white polka dot, lime green and navy & lime green plaid fabrics I found in the Los Angeles fashion district.

The two tiered cake and coordinating smash cakes & cookies were my most favorite decorations at the party.  Danielle at Shelia Mae in Los Angeles make the most delicious party treats.  If you live in the area I highly recommend her.  She is SO creative and sweet!

All the white hydrangea flowers were arranged by me in mason jars.

And here are a few photo moments of my family.  What a great day :)
